Hypertrophic scars: The word hypertrophy means "enlargement" or "overgrowth." Hypertrophic scars are more common than keloids but don't get as big, and they usually fade with time. Hypertrophic scars often respond completely to treatment, but keloids are notoriously difficult to treat.
Ice pick scars: They are deep pits within the skin and are the most common type of scars left by acne.
Boxcar scars: They are angular scars that usually occur on the temple and cheeks and can be either superficial or deep; these are similar to chickenpox scars.
Rolling scars: These types of scars give the skin a wave-like appearance.
