Successful Routes to Rid Yourself of Stretch Marks

by Sara Kitch

If one is conscience about keeping their skin healthy and smooth, they are very aware of the threat of stretch marks. These marks are pronounced with different lengths and depths. They are found in various parts of the body such as the abdomen, breasts, buttocks, legs, and upper arms. Weight gain and rapid growth are the usual culprits for the existence of stretch marks. The middle layer of the skin is called the dermis, and when stretched to a point that its elasticity breaks down, out comes a stretch mark.

Question is, what can be done about them?

Luckily, there are options for their treatment and here listed are a few of them.

Today's Available Stretch Mark Treatment Options

If you are willing to spend lots of money to solve the problem, surgery is the route to take. The stomach is where stretch marks can be removed surgically in what's called abdominoplasy surgery, or the 'tummy tuck.' Tightening and contouring the stomach walls remove excess fat and skin improving the complexion of the original stretch marks. The negatives to this procedure are that it is expensive and painful with a long recovery time.

An additional surgical option is laser treatment. Energy shot through cosmetic lasers is absorbed into the dermal layer of the skin to stimulate the production of new collagen. The stretch marks are filled in from below from the skin plumping itself due to the thickening of this new collagen. However laser treatment is really only effective for new, immature stretch marks as the improvement for more mature stretch marks doctors say is reportedly small.

A 20 to 50% improvement in the appearance of the stretch marks is a realistic expectation from using these surgical treatments.

If you automatically want to cancel out surgery, a great and effective alternative is microdermabrasion. One can have it done at a beauty spa or use the at home method of a microdermabrasion cream. The procedure involves using abrading microcrystals to wear down and eliminate the very top layer of the skin. The original stretch mark covered skin is replaced by a newer and healthier skin created by the triggering of collagen and elastin production.

A particularly effective at home microdermabrasion skin care cream is BIOSKINEXFOL. The dermabrasion cream produces the effect of the regeneration of skin cells which then resurfaces the skin. The natural serum in this particular cream is the product of a little creature's innate immune system that supports the protective strategies of the innate immune system of human skin. That creature is none other than the humble garden snail. Its serum mixed with all natural ingredients produce truly effective results for stretch mark removal.
