Acne Health: How to Deal with Oily Skin
One of the biggest problems facing people with oily skin is acne. Because oily skin is known to produce more sebum than other types of skin, it has a greater tendency to develop clogged pores and acne infections. The key to being able to control clogged pores and breakouts is to control the sebum in the skin.
An adequate cleansing routine can help treat mild and moderate acne. If you have severe forms of acne (cystic acne, acne fulminans, etc) you should seek the help of a professional. Both of these types of acne require the use of antibiotics and prescription acne creams.
Step 1: Cleansing
If you have oily skin, you can use a soapy cleanser. This does not, however, mean that you can use a soap to cleanse your face. Soaps tend to dry out your skin and are not comparable to soapy cleansers. The drier your skin is the more likely it will break or crack and let in acne bacteria.
A soapy, gel cleanser is ideal for your skin type and is even better if it contains acne fighting ingredients such as salicylic acid or retinol. Both of these ingredients will help stabilize the production of sebum. The will also help balance out the rate of cell shedding and keep debris from clogging up the pores.
If you prefer using a natural acne remedy, you can make a milk of magnesia mask at home. Simply rub it in and rinse it off. It will strip away excess sebum immediately.
Step 2: Tone and Exfoliate
Not everyone needs to use a toner after having cleansed, however, if you feel that there is still residue on your skin then you can use a toner to remove it. Just make sure that it is alcohol free.
Exfoliating, on the other hand, is something that you should do periodically. Depending on how old you are and the condition your skin is in, you should exfoliate at least once a week. To exfoliate all you need to do is use a scrub or a product that contains salicylic acid.
A scrub is any mechanical exfoliant that you can find, while salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant. Both types of products are a good option. It all depends on your preference.
Step 3: How to Moisturize Oily Skin
You may believe that oily skin doesn't need a moisturizer, but that would be wrong. The problem with oily skin is that it has too much oil, but not that it has too much moisture. With this in mind, look for a moisturizer that is oil free and apply it twice a day.
Step 4: Spot Treatment for Blemishes
Spot treatment is a vital part of any acne remedy regime. Even if you are consistent with your skin care routine, it is possible to get an occasional pimple. This is precisely why it is important to use an acne cream to treat problem areas.
BIOSKINCLEAR is a natural product used for treating mild forms of facial acne and back acne. This acne treatment cream contains gentle, biological ingredients that effectively treat breakouts and blemishes. BIOSKINCLEAR can even be used to treat minor scars from acne.
