Microdermabrasion Creams Effect on Acne Scars
Scars treatments with a microdermabrasion cream can further stimulate new skin cell synthesis in the deepest layer of the skin as it clears dull and flawed skin.
The process can take about 30 minutes and maximum results are observed with 4 to 12 treatments, depending on the severity of the damage to the skin in the affected patch. Skin in the treated area will be a little reddish or pink for a couple of weeks afterward.
You may find your skin to be tight for the first 24-48 hours. It may feel like a moderate sunburn or windburn, but no further pain is common. A 30 SPF will help defend the skin from sunburns after the microdermabrasion procedure. Also, some peeling and slight crusting may be expected in the area. No anesthesia is necessary for this procedure, since it is non-invasive.
People who want to unclog pores or reduce acne scarring may find that microdermabrasion treatment is a good option. Results will last and the healing of skin proves to heal acne scars, as well as overall appearance.
For depressed scars, such as pitted acne scars, subcision with needles is used by specialists to remove the deeply buried scar tissue. The cream should be used before and after those procedures to accelerate new healthy skin creation and remodeling: the orderly process of synthesizing new collagen and elastin fibers.
Microdermabrasion evolved from a procedure called dermabrasion. Dermabrasion has been used for many years and was created to treat severe scarring by scrubbing the uppermost surface of the skin with an abrasive, metallic instrument. This highly efficient procedure requires recovery time, not to mention anesthesia. A gentler and less invasive skin-resurfacing technology is used for microdermabrasion. And, there is no risk of dyschromia on darkly pigmented individuals.
Microdermabrasion Treatments - Explained in 3 steps
1.- Home Microdermabrasion. There's no need of skin preparation before the exfoliation. No pre-peel treatment with any other regime is needed. First, clean your skin with an alcohol product. Then just apply the cream on clean skin, with either the tips of your fingers or with a dry and soft cloth. Simply apply a small quantity to the skin and rub in a circular pattern. Wipe after ten minutes.
2.- Application of the cream: The microdermabrasion cream can be applied with your finger tips or with a cloth until redness appears. Leave the cream on your skin for about ten minutes. Then cleanse by brushing or wiping off the micro-crystals. Normally with a 1-2 minutes massage to a patch of 10x10 cm (4 x 4 inches) the exfoliating of cells should be enough. Note that the entire area must be treated. The quantity to be used is about 0.5 g per 10 × 10 cm area.
3.- Several treatments are needed to improve acne scars. Treatments should be repeated every 2 or 3 days. Superficial acne scars will require a two months treatment to achieve about 60% to 80% improvement, whereas it may take as much as four or six months of treatment to significantly improve old, large and deep marks.
