by norman horowitz

Head lice are usually found on young children; they often spread in schools like wildfires, jumping from the head of one child to the next one, laying their eggs in their hair and hiding there, and are a really serious problem no one wants to cope with.

When you get head lice, you will first notice that your scalp is really itchy. Sometimes you can feel things crawling in your hair. Your kids might be scratching their heads. Lice are very small insects that are hard to get rid of.

If you or your child gets head lice, you will immediately want to know how to get rid of lice, is it not? Nevertheless, it is not that easy. You have to take up the task immediately; otherwise, they may get out of hand. You will then need to search for the lice eggs. Usually these eggs are found close to the scalp. They look mostly like dandruff .however they cannot be brushed away that easily.

A lice comb is used to separate your child's hair into small stands that can easily be searched for lice. You then pick the lice out systematically. Make sure that as you search through the hair you can see the scalp and that you have picked all the lice out. If you leave just one, the infestation will be back in a few days.

You also should purchase a special shampoo to wash your hair with. This will work to kill any remaining eggs. The shampoo is available at most drug stores. If you follow the directions on the box, you will have no problems using the shampoo. You cannot just use the shampoo and expect all the lice to be gone, however. You must work at picking the lice out as well as using the shampoo.

Another important thing it to do is to wash all clothing and bed sheets. Hair care products and elastics should also be washed. You do not want you head to be infested again. Things that cannot be washed should be quarantined in a plastic bag for about a week. Although lice are difficult to get rid of, they can not live very long if they do not have a host to feed on.

Nobody wants head lice because they're such a massive problem to have to deal with. This problem mainly affects younger children and can spread rapidly through schools. By laying eggs and hiding in hair, they can jump quickly from one person to the next. After it is discovered that your kid has lice, you will need to learn how to get rid of lice. Unfortunately, this is not a simple job, but it must be done in short order. A lice comb can be used to separate your child's hair into small stands that can easily be searched for lice.
